This Tie is Handcrafted in Perugia, Italy by Artisan Riccardo Verolo whose skills have been passed down for generations. Our Neck Tie range Exclusively made for MoMAA by TiesForAfrica, in Italy and has no compromises made on Quality. All the Silk is Sourced from the Mills of Como, Italy. Silk from Lake Como is held in high esteem for its quality,sheen and elegance, which made it one of the most exported products of the latest century. Folklore has it that in 1400, The Duke of Milan, Ludovico Sforza, planted mulberry trees around Lake Como, all to the great delight of local greedy silkworms. The rest is history as Lake Comoβs silk industry started to rise. In 1869, with the founding of the famous School Paolo Carcano: l for craftsmen which had the purpose of training the most talented silk masters in all of Italy. Over time, luxury silk from Lake ComoΒ gained so much popularity that, in 1972, its production exceeded that of China and Japan.
